The Sentinel Spirit is a skeletal warrior adorned with ancient armor and wielding a spectral axe. Its body is translucent with a faint white glow emanating from within, but will only become so when it rises.
The Sentinel Spirit was thought to be an idea that took form when a brave warrior who lived in a fortress located in a valley between two mountains was under constant threat from invading forces, and the warrior was tasked with protecting it. He fought valiantly and eventually died defending his stronghold against an overwhelming number of enemies. However, his spirit could not rest, and he continued to guard the fortress, even in death. That same ideal spirit is said inhabit other warriors and, upon a similar death, they to will become a Sentinel Spirit, forever guarding their charge.
The Sentinel Spirit is vulnerable to magical attacks, and if its location is breached, it loses much of its power. Also, if its location is destroyed, the Sentinel Spirit will be released from its duty and pass on to the afterlife.
The Sentinel Spirit’s purpose is to defend the fortress and the people within it. Its spectral presence serves as a powerful deterrent to would-be attackers, and its combat abilities ensure that any who do trespass are dealt with effectively. The Sentinel Spirit sees itself as a noble and honorable guardian, and it will do everything in its power to live up to that title.

  • Condition Immunities: charmed, exhaustion, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned
  • Senses: Darkvision 60ft.
  • Languages: understands all languages it knew in life, but can’t speak.
  • Spectral Barrier: The Sentinel Spirit can use an action to create a 30-foot radius barrier of spectral energy around the fortress it is bound to. The barrier lasts for 1 minute and prevents all non-magical weapons from passing through while allowing allies to move through unhindered.
  • Telepathy: The Sentinel Spirit can communicate telepathically with a creature it can see within 120 feet of it.
