SPECIAL ABILITIES:

  • Incorporeal Movement: The Weeping Wraith can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.
  • Lament of the Lost: The Weeping Wraith can use its action to lament its tragic history. Each creature within 30 feet of the Wraith must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is charmed by the Wraith for 1 minute and can’t take reactions. While charmed in this way, the creature is filled with immense sadness, hearing the echoes of the Wraith’s story as it fades into memory. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
  • Fateful Rest: The Weeping Wraith is compelled to seek out an object or person that embodies the goodness lost in its story. If a creature presents this object to the Wraith, or if the goodness is restored (as determined by the DM), the Wraith finds peace and dissipates into a gentle glow, leaving behind a +1 item of choice that symbolizes restoration.

ACTIONS:

  • Wailing Touch: Melee Spell Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or have disadvantage on its next saving throw against being frightened.

DESCRIPTION:
The Weeping Wraith is a sorrowful spirit that roams the places it once cherished. Its form is a faint, glowing silhouette that shifts gently, resembling the gentle flow of a tear through the air. The Wraith’s eyes, filled with the weight of its loss, flicker with radiant light, a stark contrast to its dreary, shadowy form.
In life, the Weeping Wraith was a guardian of something pure and good—a beloved artifact, perhaps, or a cherished person. However, with the loss of this precious thing to a force of evil, the Wraith was left to wander the world, burdened by grief and longing.
Whenever it encounters the living, the Wraith shares its tragic history with a haunting melody of lamentation, drawing listeners into its sorrowful tale. The Weeping Wraith presents a unique opportunity for adventurers; if they can uncover the lost goodness of its past, they might just help this restless spirit find peace.
