The Hyrontus are an ancient race of tall and powerful warriors that have existed for as long as anyone can remember. They were once a nomadic people, moving from place to place and surviving off the land. They were known to be fierce and unyielding in battle, and many kingdoms and empires have either sought their aid or attempted to conquer them over the centuries.
Despite their fearsome reputation, the Hyrontus have always been a peaceful people at their core. They value strength, honor, and loyalty above all else, and have always tried to live in harmony with the world around them. For many years they managed to stay out of the conflicts of the mortal races.
That all changed, however, with the rise of an evil sorcerer known as Xarath. Xarath was a powerful sorcerer who sought to conquer the world with an army of Goblins, Gnolls, and Zombies. The Hyrontus were one of the few races to stand against him, and their strength and skill in battle proved to be a crucial element in turning back his armies. During the final battle, sorceress Thalia Moonweaver and Hyrontus karnat (major), Raxus ScarTrunk, led the final charge that would ultimately bring down Xarath.
Since then, the Hyrontus have been much more involved in the wider world. They have formed alliances with other races and have been seen as honorable companions in times of need. But they remain true to their core values, and will always be fierce protectors of their homeland, Terbrook, and their people.
Hyrontus have adapted to different environments over the centuries, but they naturally thrive in environments that resemble the savannah and grasslands. They prefer living in wide-open spaces, with plenty of room to move and hunt. They are also adapted to harsh environments and can tolerate extreme heat and cold for short periods.
Hyrontus are known to form small, tight-knit communities that work together to survive and maintain their way of life. They are skilled hunters and excel at tracking prey, which they use for both food and resources. Hyrontus are also skilled at making use of natural resources, such as crafting weapons and tools from animal bones and vegetation. They can read and write Hyrontus, Common, and alignment languages.
Hyrontus typically wear complex hammered brass and copper armor with intricate designs. For weapons the Hyrontus favor a unique flail. The ball end has 4 curved blades at the end that can either cut or stab, depending on the type of strike. The ball can also do bludgeoning damage.
The Hyrontus have a +2 Strength bonus and a +1 Constitution bonus. They have infravision up to 60’. Hyrontus have a “Warrior’s Charge”. If they have an open 20’ straight to their enemy and declare they would like to do a “Warrior’s Charge”, they roll to hit. If the hit is successful, so was the charge and an extra 1d8 is added to the damage.
While some Hyrontus move out into the world to become Sellswords, others become warriors at home in the Hyrontus military. Some few become Ul’Thoros (Ranger) and a privileged few become Gor’zol (Cleric). 85% of the Hyrontus you meet are military of some sort.
There is only one Hyrontus magic-user and he is called the Thaldrax Gorlakahn. He is the descendent of Raxus ScarTrunk. He family lineage was infused with power at the last battle of the Xarath War. When it is time to select a new Thaldrax Gorlakahn, it will always be from this lineage. They will always be the defacto “King” of the Hyrontus.

These ranks reflect the Hyrontus’ fierce warrior nature and their emphasis on loyalty and honor. They are designed to inspire respect and obedience while also acknowledging the bravery and skill of individual soldiers. Sure, here’s a potential racial enemy for the Hyrontus: The Hyrontus have a long-standing rivalry with the Gnolls, a race of fierce, hyena-like creatures that are known for their savagery and brutality. The Gnolls are known to raid Hyrontus settlements, attacking with overwhelming force and taking whatever they can carry away. The two races have been at odds for centuries, with each side blaming the other for the violence and aggression that has taken place. Hyrontus view the Gnolls as a barbaric and unpredictable race, prone to violence and destruction. Conversely, the Gnolls view the Hyrontus as a threat to their way of life, encroaching on their territory and resources. The tension between the two races has only grown in recent years, with skirmishes and raids becoming more frequent. Some Hyrontus believe that the only way to bring about lasting peace is to wipe out the Gnolls entirely, while others believe that diplomacy and negotiation are the better path forward. Regardless of their individual beliefs, the Hyrontus know that the Gnolls are a formidable foe, and that any conflict with them will be deadly and dangerous. The Hyrontus are a tall, muscular humanoid with ivory-white skin. They stand between 7 and 8 feet tall, towering over most other races. They have a thick, muscular build, with broad shoulders and powerful arms. Their head resembles that of an elephant, with a short trunk and medium-sized, leaf-like ears that can swivel independently. Their eyes are small and deep-set, with a keen, focused gaze. For those running a Hyrontus as a PC, the accent is similar to someone that comes from the Ivory Coast or West Africa.
