The Wax Gobblers are peculiar creatures resembling pink armadillos with vibrant, coruscating brown and yellow shells. About the size of a cat, they possess long ears, a long pointed tail, and a single curved horn on their heads covered in delicate pink scales. Their short legs are pink and scaled, with yellow toes, and they sport a small, yellow beard around their mouths.
Wax Gobblers are exclusively wax-eaters, compelled by their nature to seek out and consume wax-based materials such as beeswax, candles, and other similar objects. Their unique diet sustains them, providing all the nutrients they require for survival. Due to this, they have adapted to burrowing into wax structures to extract their sustenance, making them both a pest and a curiosity in areas abundant with wax.
Some Wax Gobblers are kept as pets or familiars by individuals who appreciate their unusual nature and loyalty when properly cared for. Their ability to consume wax can be advantageous in certain magical rituals or settings where the disposal of wax is a concern. While domesticated, Wax Gobblers can form strong bonds with their owners, becoming valued companions in their unique way. Encountering a Wax Gobbler may vary from a nuisance to a quaint curiosity, depending on the context of the encounter.
Special Abilities:
  • Wax Consumption: The Wax Gobbler feeds exclusively on wax, making it immune to most other forms of sustenance. It can burrow into beeswax, candles, and other wax-based objects to extract its nourishment.
  • Adaptable Familiar: Some Wax Gobblers are domesticated and used as pets or familiars by spellcasters, who appreciate their unique ability to consume wax and their loyalty when properly cared for.
  • Auditory Sensitivity: Wax Gobblers have keen hearing, able to detect subtle sounds and vibrations in their surroundings. They are difficult to surprise in ambush situations and possess an advantage on hearing-based perception checks.
