The Swampstalker is a ferocious and fearsome predator that lurks in the murky swamps and marshes of the world, but has been known to inhabit clear lakes and streams should territorial struggles or mating needs arise. It stands over four and a half feet tall at the shoulder and is covered in thick, leathery scales that are a mottled brown and green color, making it nearly invisible in the swampy environment. Its head is catlike, with powerful jaws filled with sharp teeth that it uses to rip apart its prey. Its eyes are a piercing yellow and nearly glow in the darkness of its habitat. Its forelimbs are muscular and end in razor-sharp claws, which it uses to grab and hold onto its prey, while its hind legs have powerful leg muscles that propel it through the swampy terrain. It can ignore difficult terrain caused by mud or swampy ground due to its claws. It has a keen sense of smell, bordering on the supernatural. It can not only smell prey at almost a mile, it is never confused by multiple scents. It can smell when enemies are trying to surround it and make an educated guess as to an escape route. The Swampstalker has a small psionic ability, sending out a small “you need to look here” signal. This False Empathy signal is designed to make prey feel as if there is something they need right where the Swampstalker is hidden. This makes it easy to draw food in close. Even if the prey only closes a short distance, the Swampstalker is very fast. The Swampstalker is a solitary creature, preferring to hunt and live alone, except during mating season. It is territorial and fiercely defends its hunting grounds against other creatures that may encroach on its territory. Despite its fearsome reputation, the Swampstalker is not an evil creature, but simply a predator that is driven by its instincts to hunt and survive. However, those who venture into its territory do so at their own peril, as the Swampstalker is a formidable foe and not easily defeated.
